Reports to: Head of Psychotherapy
We are seeking to recruit a Psychotherapist for our residential therapeutic community in London. This is an exciting time to join us as we seek to expand our psychotherapy provision within the service. We are looking for a fully qualified clinician who can work with adults experiencing high levels of distress, often in highly charged situations, while maintaining the ability to think and support those around them. In return, you’ll receive a warm and friendly welcome into an organisation where your aptitude for formulation, reflection, and creativity can be utilised to their full potential. Your skills will be highly regarded, and you will be offered excellent continuous professional development opportunities.
About us:
We are a dynamic and creative organisation working with adults experiencing severe emotional distress, many of whom have diagnoses of psychosis or personality disorder, and often with drug and/or alcohol dependency. Our model is based on housing, community, and psychotherapy, influenced by Psychologically Informed Environments (PIEs), Therapeutic Communities, recovery, and neuro-psychodynamic theory. The Community Psychotherapist/Psychologist is the clinical lead for the service, working alongside the Service Manager to develop, maintain, and lead a psychologically informed environment to the highest clinical standards. This is a busy, varied, and ultimately rewarding position. Some of the daily activities include:
* Facilitating formal reflective practice groups
* Providing one-to-one psychodynamic psychotherapy sessions for residents
* Facilitating case formulation meetings with staff and residents
* Ensuring clinical practice is centered on a formulation-based approach and aligned with the CHT model
* Offering advice and consultation to staff members
* Ensuring clinical outcomes measures are collated
* Assessing potential new residents into the community
About you:
We are looking for a fully qualified Psychodynamic Psychotherapist/Integrative Psychotherapist with a strong emphasis on psychodynamic thinking, or a Clinical Psychologist with additional psychodynamic or psychoanalytic training. You will hold registration with UKCP, HCPC, or BPC, or be accredited by BACP. Alternatively, as a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist, you will hold BPS chartered status.
As the Community Psychotherapist, you should be accustomed to working with high levels of distress. Experience in a residential setting is not mandatory, but you must be a reflective, thoughtful, and resilient clinician, capable of adapting to changing priorities. Ideally, we prefer a full-time psychotherapist/psychologist, but part-time (four days a week) will be considered for the right candidate. If interested, please refer to the job description and person specification for more details.
