We encourage creativity and problem solving, we challenge our team, our processes and our offering to customers, and we celebrate our successes. ​ About the Role ​ The Project Engineer role is to have responsibility for the successful delivery of allocated projects and/or associated technical project documentation, that fall within MDL’s service offering. This role will predominantly be for New Build equipment and Installation Engineering projects but will include support to the MDL Assets & Operations business function and support to Flex-lay projects. The Project Engineer should be able to take the full scope through its entire project life cycle from initial specification / kick off, engineering phase, manufacture, assembly, testing, right through to the delivery or offshore execution. The Project Engineer must draw on technical experience and ensure technical integrity through setting best practice and providing a high level of technical guidance on all Project Engineering related matters. ​ Key objectives for the Project Engineer to execute and support across all projects are: ​ Project documentation, procedures and work packs are developed and defined in line with MDL / Client procedures Quality Client experience (expectations are managed and met) Cost management of project budgets Contract management (delivering to the scope of the contract) Schedule management (maintaining a visible schedule and delivering on time) Stakeholder management (structured and ad-hoc communications, in person, video conferencing and email) ​ Project Support and Technical Authorship ​ Supports global projects and manages Engineering projects, including scope of work, client interface and expectations, budget, timelines, contract and deliverables. Supports and, on occasion, facilitates kick-off meetings on successful awards with the relevant team members. Creation of technical and project support documentation aligned with the agreed Master Document Register (MDR). Preparation / review of calculations and work procedures. Support Engineering and Project Delivery teams during project lifecycle to maintain customer relationships, technical advantages of MDL solutions and drive revenue/cost optimisation. Work with Procurement, Project Cost and Contracts teams to drive supplier relationships and reduce project risks (schedule, costs). Technical specification of materials and submission of purchase requisitions. Liaising with internal and external personnel as required to be able to effectively execute tasks, including the production of documentation. Create, review and approval of MDL Risk Assessments and their implementation. Planning of project activities within overall project schedule to meet project requirements. Effective project reporting, both externally to Client and internally within business as required. Supplies technical solutions and creates work procedures. Manage the dispatch of materials, equipment, and personnel to site. Performs cost monitoring and control of allocated project packages, producing both internal and client project progress reports. Co-ordination and management of the dispatch of materials from supplier / to site where required. Attend site to witness / oversee key project milestones, e.g. load test, FAT. Promote safety culture throughout the project lifecycle. Promote HSEQ across project, clients, vendors, and their sub suppliers. Ensure all personnel supporting project work scopes (Office based and site) work in line with safety processes and risk assessments. Effective close out of projects. Ensure lessons learned between projects are proactively managed and shared. Participate in internal and external audits. ​ Responsibilities and Accountabilities ​ Maintains development of professional skills and experience via the undertaking and recording of CPD. Maintain and report Key Performance Indicators and take action as required to ensure agreed performance standards and expectations are achieved. Shows good time management to allow tasks to be completed within allocated time frames. Set good personal examples on QHSE issues within your area of operation and influence; report all accidents and near misses to your line manager; is always leading by example and setting high standards. ​ Works in collaboration with the team and develops good working relationships ​ Works closely with Engineering and Project Delivery teams, sharing knowledge, discussing ideas and helping the teams achieve overall MDL financial targets. Develops strong and effective working relationships with Engineering, Project Delivery and Assets & Operations personnel as required. Gain an understanding and appreciation, through interaction, of MDL Operations capabilities and timescales to deliver services. Effectively communicate information to clients, colleagues, management and suppliers. Ensure successful communication/works within all areas of the business. Takes part in annual performance reviews. Works with Management and HR to identify training and development plans. ​ Qualifications and Experience ​ Key Requirements ​ Degree level education in an Engineering discipline is preferred or over 4 years’ experience in a similar role within small to medium scale projects. Experience in project engineering within an Oil and Gas, Renewable or Engineering Service company is preferred. Must have a passion for Engineering. Proficient in generating technical project documentation, procedures and work packs. Experienced in reading and understanding technical drawings, predominantly manufacturing drawings such as fabrication and arrangement drawings, but also preferably hydraulic and electrical schematics. Excellent IT skills (specifically Microsoft Office). ​ Experience ​ Strong background creating technical project documentation, procedures and work packs. Good knowledge of Engineering standards, procedures, and work practices. Proven track record in project environment or manufacturing environment. Background in Engineering; mechanical, hydraulic or electrical. Knowledge of formal project management methods, processes, procedures, techniques and tools. Experienced in the production and management of project schedules, e.g., Microsoft Project. Commercially strong and preferably with experience in project cost control, including cost controlling software. Experienced in estimating and costing. Demonstrated proficiency in relevant software for project execution, e.g. Microsoft Office (all base applications), Microsoft Project, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Adobe Acrobat, and database use and management. ​ Personal Attributes and Team Skills ​ Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills (verbal and written) and presentation skills. Trustworthy and approachable. Ability to negotiate with clients in a project environment, present commercial and technical solutions for changes to work scopes to clients and develop win-win strategies. Ability to work within a team and work across departments to achieve a common goal. Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask. Strong attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Self-driven and results orientated. Strong problem-solving skills. Able to develop effective working relationships with others.
