Overview
Intravenous and Vascular Access Services (IVAS) Unit Manager, Frimley Park Hospital. Full Time, Permanent (Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm)
Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced and motivated IVAS Infusion Unit Manager to lead our innovative and expanding Intravenous and Vascular Access Services (IVAS).
The IVAS service plays a vital role in preventing hospital admission and supporting early discharge by delivering intravenous therapies as day cases or in the community. The service encompasses the Infusion Day Unit, Home Infection Management Service (HIMS), 7-day Vascular Access Service, and the International IVAS Training Academy.
Responsibilities
* Lead the Infusion Day Unit; line management for the nursing/midwifery team within the 22-chair Infusion Day Unit; work closely with the Deputy IVAS Lead, the Senior Sister for HIMS, and the Senior Sister for Vascular Access.
* Provide senior leadership, deputise for the Deputy IVAS Lead.
* Manage budget and workforce; ensure effective use of nursing resources, equipment, and supplies.
* Be employed by Frimley Health NHS FT and may be required to work flexibly across Frimley Health sites to meet service demand.
* Provide visible, inspirational leadership; act as a positive role model and promote effective team working.
* Manage the department skill mix to ensure the delivery of clinically effective, high-quality, safe and person-centred care.
* Apply appropriate workforce planning tools at ward level, contributing to workforce planning and capacity management while maintaining strong partnership working.
* Ensure activity and workload are delivered efficiently within agreed timescales.
* Champion the use of EPIC and the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) within clinical practice, supporting IVAS staff to maximise the benefits of digital systems and ensuring accurate, timely documentation and data utilisation.
* Create and sustain a learning culture that supports assessment, education and professional development. Provide mentorship and clinical supervision, enabling staff to continuously develop knowledge and skills in response to evolving service needs. Deliver and contribute to teaching, mentoring and coaching sessions, actively encouraging innovation and service improvement.
Qualifications and Experience
* Senior leadership experience within an infusion/IVAS setting or equivalent; ability to lead, manage budgets and workforce, and deputise for the Deputy IVAS Lead.
* Experience with establishing or managing day-case infusion services and cross-site collaboration.
* Experience with digital systems and documentation; preferably EPIC/EPR.
