Key Responsibilities
1. Security
* Open and close the premises at appropriate times.
* Ensure buildings are secure, including setting alarms and locking doors/windows.
* Respond to emergency call-outs outside normal working hours if required.
2. Maintenance
* Carry out minor repairs (e.g., plumbing, joinery, painting).
* Report major defects or maintenance needs to appropriate contractors or supervisors.
* Monitor heating, lighting, and other systems for efficient use.
3. Cleaning and Hygiene
* Ensure communal areas are kept clean and tidy.
* Supervise cleaning staff (if applicable) and ensure cleaning standards are maintained.
* Undertake occasional cleaning duties if required.
4. Grounds and Environment
* Maintain outdoor areas including paths, car parks, and playgrounds.
* Carry out gritting and snow clearance in winter months.
* Ensure rubbish and recycling are disposed of properly.
5. Health and Safety
* Conduct regular checks of fire alarms, extinguishers, emergency lighting, and first-aid supplies.
* Maintain records of inspections and comply with health & safety regulations.
* Assist with risk assessments and follow safeguarding protocols.
6. Booking and Facility Management
* Keep accurate records of room and facility bookings.
* Coordinate with staff and external groups to ensure booked spaces are available, accessible, and prepared.
* Monitor usage of spaces to prevent double-booking and ensure smooth operations.
7. Support Services
* Move furniture and set up rooms for meetings, exams, or events.
* Receive deliveries and distribute supplies as needed.
* Assist staff and visitors as required.
Person Specification:
Essential:
* Basic knowledge of health & safety procedures
* Good organisational and record-keeping skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Reliability, flexibility, and trustworthiness
* DBS clearance
Desirable:
* Previous experience in a similar role
* Knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, or carpentry work
* Experience managing room or facility bookings
Expected hours
Mon - Fri 5pm - 9pm
Sat/Sun 10am - 9pm (potential hours)
