Job Overview
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Volunteer Shop Assistants to support the daily operations of our community shop. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in retail, customer service, and administrative tasks while contributing positively to the local community. The position is unpaid, providing valuable work experience in a friendly and supportive environment.
Our shop is open Monday 1-3 pm and Wednesday 11-1pm at our studio in Rackheath so availability for either/ both days is welcomed.
Duties
* Greet customers warmly and assist with their enquiries to ensure a welcoming shopping experience
* Operate the cash register, handle transactions accurately, and process payments efficiently
* Restock shelves and organise displays to maintain an attractive and tidy shop environment
* Assist with inventory management, including receiving deliveries and updating stock records
* Provide general administrative support such as data entry, filing, and maintaining shop records using basic IT systems
* Support promotional activities and organise special events within the shop as required
* Ensure health and safety standards are adhered to at all times during daily operations
Skills
* Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and approachable manner
* Basic IT skills for data entry, record keeping, and using point-of-sale systems
* Organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a busy environment
* Good communication skills, both verbal and written
* Ability to work well as part of a team and independently when required
