Description
We are seeking an Accounts Assistant to join our team on a 9-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. The successful candidate will work a minimum of 30 hours per week, with Monday and Friday being essential working days. This role involves performing daily and weekly administrative tasks, providing support to the finance team, ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, maintaining financial records, and assisting with financial reporting and audits.
What you'll be responsible for:
* Perform administrative and accounting tasks using Excel, Word, and accounting software. This includes data entry, maintaining financial records, and preparing financial documents.
* Conduct three-way client bank account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies.
* Perform client money calculations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
* Issue cheques for policyholder refunds, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed accurately.
* Process paperwork for urgent and BACS refunds, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
* Compile and send daily business statistics to the business, providing accurate and timely information to support decision-making.
* Process daily refunds via the broker system, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
* Assist in the preparation of financial reports, such as balance sheets. Provide accurate and timely information to support financial decision-making.
* Maintain accurate and complete financial records, both digital and physical. Ensure all records are up-to-date and easily accessible.
* Provide supporting documentation for audits and assist in month-end closing. Ensure all financial records are accurate and comply with regulatory requirements.
What you'll need:
Essential Skills:
* Attention to detail and deadlines
* A good level of numeracy
* Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel is required
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to work in a team and unsupervised
* The ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion is essential for maintaining trust and compliance with regulatory requirements
Desirable Skills:
* Experience in the insurance or brokerage industry.
* Familiarity with OpenGI broker system and other accounting software.
