Accountant Location: Newforge Lane, Belfast The entrance to Newforge Lane lies off the Malone Road and is well-served by bus Metro Service 8. About the Role Reporting to a Finance Manager, the successful candidate will be a key member of Power NIs Finance team supporting the team on a range of Commercial and Operational financial activities including the provision of commercial insight, accurate reporting, analysis, and forecasting. This role will work closely with operational, pricing, trading and compliance teams to ensure profit integrity, regulatory compliance, and strategic decision-making. Responsibilities Day-to-day, heres what your new role would look like: Margin & Operating Costs Management: Analyse customer profitability, product margins, and portfolio performance Monitor and critique costs of sales and operating costs and assess impacts on margins and EBITDA Support business strategies by providing financial insights to various teams within the business Review and validate sales and cost models and variance analyses Pricing & Product Support: Provision of financial input into pricing decisions Work with analysts to model impact on tariff costs, revenues forecast and sensitivities Support with the development of new products / offerings Reporting & Forecasting: Preparation of monthly performance reports Produce short and long-term financial forecast and scenario models Ensure accuracy and completeness of accruals for costs and sales Regulatory & Market Compliance: Monitor changes to market regulations and key contracts and assess financial impacts Support compliance reporting Support financial audits and regulatory submissions Supporting production of business risk register Stakeholder Collaboration Partner with business teams to drive financial performance to ensure financial targets met Present insights to senior management team, including risks & opportunities Support business cases and strategic initiatives About you Key Criteria What Youll Need Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience Experience in energy, utilities, or a similarly complex, cost-driven industry Strong commercial acumen with the ability to interpret both financial and operational data Advanced Excel skills (modelling, scenarios, complex analysis) Experience with large datasets Desirable Criteria - These help decide between those who meet all the above key criteria: Experience in energy cost modelling Experience and knowledge of using SAP or Workday Familiarity with regulatory frameworks.
