Job Overview
A position for a Laboratory Technician in a chemical processing facility has come available. Primarily, this is a laboratory based role, maintaining the chemistry and ensuring compliance to the relevant standards. This role will involve working closely alongside the Laboratory Manager
The Role:
* Ensure that the chemical process solutions are analysed with the correct frequency and accuracy.
* Ensure that all chemical process data is collected, recorded and analysed in accordance with the applicable Standard Operating Procedures
* Ensure that all chemicals are stored correctly and safely with adequate bunding and labelling of hazards.
* Ensure that all waste chemicals or materials awaiting disposal are stored correctly and safely with adequate bunding and labelling of hazards.
* Ensure that all materials awaiting disposal are disposed of safely and legally with reputable waste disposal companies.
* Check and maintain the chemical inventory, including recording stock levels, monitor consumption of resources and advise on means to reduce them.
* Ensure that the effluent systems function correctly and controls are appropriately calibrated
* Assist in the operation and assessment of QMS Test Panel programme, ensuring that the correct records are kept and reporting any significant issues to the Operations Manager
* Ensure that the requisite adjustments to chemical process tanks are properly and safely completed.
* Ensure that all laboratory equipment is properly used, adequately and correctly maintained / presented & suitably labelled (dates of calibration etc.).
* Ensure that all laboratory chemicals are properly dates and labelled accordingly.
* Assist in the correct and efficient operation of waste water treatment facilities (including de-mineralisation systems).
* Advise other managers as to the current condition / performance of chemical process solutions and waste water treatment facilities.
The Candidate:
* Familiarity with analytical techniques such as titrations, pH determination, micro-hardness testing, neutral salt spray testing would be advantageous.
* Candidates will ideally have a chemical laboratory background, which would consist of either a degree or equivalent in Chemistry / Chemical Engineering or similar subject or A-levels in science based subjects complimented by sufficient laboratory experience within a manufacturing environment.
* ·The role involves working with hazardous chemicals, so previous experience or knowledge is required, although training will be given.
Salary:
£ £30000 depending on skills and experience

Pay: £25,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
