We currently have a fantastic opportunity for an Electrical Craftsperson to join our team based in Bodmin. This is a permanent full-time contract with a competitive salary of £34,368 - £40,729 per annum. Benefits include a standby allowance (working 1 in 8 rotation), additional payments for call-outs and overtime, a company van, and various other benefits. The role involves a 37-hour workweek with 1 in 4 Fridays off.
About the role
The Electrical Craftsperson will be responsible for fault finding, repairing, and maintaining assets across operational sites for both Drinking Water and Waste Water Services. You will perform planned maintenance, support asset preservation, and provide recommendations for future maintenance to prevent faults and ensure compliance and quality standards.
What you’ll be doing
1. Delivering quality support using your expertise in electrical, control, and process systems to minimize risk and impact to customers.
2. Carrying out repairs and maintenance, diagnosing faults on electrical and control systems.
3. Collaborating with other disciplines in a mobile field team.
4. Liaising with affected staff and updating engineering documentation.
5. Supporting internal customers in line with South West Water’s values of Trust, Responsibility, Collaboration, and Progress.
6. Planning and prioritizing work to meet maintenance and operational needs.
7. Adhering to ISO, H&S policies, and procedures.
8. Undertaking necessary training to improve technical skills and safety awareness.
9. Following business rules for maintenance activities and feedback.
What we are looking for
Essentials:
* 5 GCSEs including Maths, English, and Science at grade C or above.
* Relevant formal qualifications (City and Guilds, BTEC, ONC/HNC/HND).
* Compliance with IEE 18th Edition Regulations.
* Experience in fault finding & 3-phase electrical systems.
* Full UK driving license.
Desirables:
* City & Guilds Inspect and Test 2391-10.
* Industrial/Commercial experience.
* Experience with VSDs, soft starts, and motor control systems.
* Understanding of wiring diagrams.
* Knowledge of risk assessments and RAMS.
* Good knowledge of LV systems (415VAC to 24VAC and DC control).
