Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to oversee the daily operations of our busy bistro Market Square. In addition we have a large events space downstairs that hosts live music and is available for private hire. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities and a passion for hospitality, ensuring that our guests receive exceptional service while maintaining high standards of food safety and quality. This role requires a hands-on approach to managing staff, food production, and customer satisfaction in a fast-paced environment.

Duties

* Lead and supervise all aspects of restaurant operations, including food preparation, cooking, and serving.
* Manage and train kitchen staff to ensure adherence to food safety standards and culinary excellence.
* Oversee inventory management, including ordering supplies and maintaining stock levels.
* Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and service quality.
* Foster a positive team environment through effective team management and leadership strategies.
* Ensure compliance with health regulations and safety standards within the kitchen and dining areas.
* Collaborate with front-of-house teams to provide seamless service to guests.
* Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints in a professional manner.
* Monitor financial performance and assist in budget preparation.
* Manage and arrange private hire for a range of events.

Requirements

* Proven experience in a supervisory role within the restaurant or hospitality industry.
* Strong culinary experience with knowledge of food production techniques.
* Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team.
* Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices in food preparation.
* Previous experience in kitchen management or barista roles is advantageous.
* Exceptional organisational skills with attention to detail in all aspects of operations.
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of service.
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with staff and guests.
