About Our Service The Helena Specialist Nursing Team provides care to children and young people in community settings such as patient homes and schools. Ryegate House is a six‑bedded facility providing 24‑hour nursing care and short breaks for children and young people (0‑19 years) with complex neurological health conditions. As part of the team, you’ll provide personalised, high‑quality care in homes, schools and our facility, offering safe and nurturing respite for families.
About the Role This is a fantastic opportunity to develop specialised skills in areas such as tracheostomy and ventilation while gaining teaching experience within community settings and the organisation. You’ll support line management, provide compassionate care to palliative patients and their families, contribute to service growth and become an expert in areas such as sepsis, infection control and tissue viability. The Nursing Associate works independently under the leadership of registered nurses, within all aspects of the nursing process.
Main duties of the job
Reporting into the Matron, some of your responsibilities will include:
* Work collaboratively with the multi‑professional team and the Registered Nurse to assess, plan, organise and deliver clinical care in line with patient needs and supervisory clinicians.
* Work independently under the leadership of registered nurses, within all aspects of the nursing process.
* Act professionally at all times, using your knowledge and experience to make evidence‑based decisions to solve challenges and problems.
* Recognise and operate within the limits of your competencies, being responsible and accountable for your actions.
* Supervise learners (new starters and students) during their placements once preceptorship and required training are completed, and actively contribute to quality assurance processes and service development.

Qualifications/Training
* Training Nursing Associate Foundation Degree
* Current registration with NMC
* Willingness to complete competencies related to paediatric speciality of role
* Supervisor training
* Completion of preceptorship
Experience
* Demonstrated commitment to professional development

* Understanding of the principles of audit
* Post‑registration experience in paediatric specialty
