Your new role
As the school’s Attendance Officer, you will play a vital part in promoting and improving pupil attendance. You’ll work closely with pupils, families, and staff to ensure attendance procedures are followed and that every child has the best chance to thrive.
This is a temporary long-term role potentially until the end of the school term in summer, with working hours of 8am - 4pm. You will require full education vetting with an enhanced DBS.
1. Monitoring and recording daily pupil attendance and punctuality
2. Following up on absences through phone calls, texts, and home–schoolmunication
3. Producing daily, weekly, and termly attendance reports for senior leaders
4. Identifying patterns of concern and supporting early intervention strategies
5. Working with external agencies where necessary to support families
6. Maintaining accurate records using SIMS or other school systems
7. Supporting statutory returns such as census data
8. Assisting with admissions, leavers, and pupil transitions
9. Ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed at all times
10. Providing general administrative support to the school office when required
What you'll need to succeed
11. Previous attendance or pastoral experience in a school environment
12. Strongmunication and interpersonal skills
13. Confidence in using Microsoft Office and school systems (SIMS desirable)
14. Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
15. A calm, professional, and supportive approach when dealing with families
16. Amitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
17. The ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing priorities
