The Role This is a key hire within the commercial underwriting team where you be focused on new business and MTAs across Commercial Combined, Property, and Liability lines – with a separate team handling renewals. This role suits someone who enjoys building and maintaining broker relationships, thrives in a fast-paced, growing environment, and wants to work somewhere their input will genuinely shape the team and offering. Key Responsibilities Underwrite new business and mid-term adjustments within your delegated authority Work directly with brokers to develop and retain strong relationships Support internal processes to ensure underwriting integrity and regulatory compliance Liaise with insurers on referrals and complex risks Contribute to ongoing development of systems and best practices Mentor more junior colleagues and provide technical input where needed What They’re Looking For 5 years’ experience in commercial underwriting (especially Property, Liability, and Commercial Combined) Strong relationship-building skills – personable, confident, and commercially aware A positive, “can-do” attitude with a willingness to be hands-on Experience using bespoke or in-house systems Cert CII is a plus – but not essential; full study support is provided Someone who’s comfortable in a scaling business and eager to grow with it The Process Initial interview with senior leadership Final stage with the CEO (competency and scenario-based, with potential technical element) Interviews can be held over Teams Ideally looking to have someone in place before the end of October
