Anexciting opportunity has arisen in Barnsley Hospitals Outpatient department ata time of innovation and transformation. This is a key role to ensure theprovision of an efficient, professional and a complex range of corporateservices.
Youwill be responsible for leading on transformation work in Outpatients and MedicalRecords as part of the NHS Strategy. In line with the NHS 10 year plan, movingfrom digital to analogue, for Barnsley hospital this means embedding the movefrom paper to electronic records and develop subject expertise on HealthRecords (physical and electronic); to provide professional leadership withinthe Trust on all Health Records matters. This role also leads on outpatient improvementprojects that support the Outpatient Transformation and Recovery Programme,such as scheduling of outpatient clinics, PIFU, reducing cancellations andsupporting services to deliver GiRFT best practice.
Thereis the opportunity for aspiring leaders to have experience of chairing Trustwide meetings as deputy to the Head of Service, to draft business cases and skill mix modellingas service develop and change.
Otherdepartment that fall under the outpatient and medical records remit includeswitchboard, appointment call centre, outpatient reception desks, hospital mainreception, NHS elgibility, the post room and cashiers office.
Main duties of the job
The post holderwill be a highly competent,knowledgeable and visible manager within our departments and will lead byexample and inspire the teams to deliver exemplary care.
The postholder willformulate and implement changes throughout the Trust relating to outpatientservices as a core member of Outpatient improvement groups. Act as deputy chairto the OPIG as required
The postholderwill have line manager responsibility for admin and clerical staff within thedesignated areas, and cross covering the other 2 operational leads teams intheir absence
The postholderwill formulate and implement changes throughout the Trust relating to theHealth Records Management Strategy as a core member of the Health Records Group. This year significant work will takeplace planning and delivering retention and destruction of archive records inpartnership with the Health Records Lead.
The postholderwill assist the Head of Service withservice development projects, developing and implementing policy, leading andparticipating in working groups on projects that impact on wider Trustperformance.
Other responsibilitiesinclude asset owner of ProScheduler, responsible for the maintenance,procurement of upgrades, test site and implementation across BHNFT. DeputyInformation Asset Owner (IAO) for e-referral system, Kiosk Self check insystem, for Health Records paper and subsequent electronic media, iFIT casenotes tracking system and to ensure compliance with IG Toolkit standards.
