Job Title
Kitchen Assistant/Supper cook
3pm to 6.30pm 7 days a week required (will be split between multiple staff members). (Overtime available for holiday/sickness cover during week)
Qualifications
· Must be able to speak good English and have effective communication methods
· Enjoy assisting the chef on duty
· Enthusiastic and enjoy being a member of a team
· To have or willing to obtain an the Basic Food Hygiene Qualification.
Accountable To
The Registered Manager
Reporting To
Chef/ Manager or the Nurse in Charge.
Job Purpose
To assist in the smooth running of the kitchen
Key Tasks
· Tea trays from the residents rooms
· Wash all the used cutlery and crockery using the dishwasher
· Wash all the trays and clean the trollies
· Set up the supper trays for each resident with napkins, cutlery, salt and pepper and the room number.
· Set up the tea trolley
· Empty and refill the dishwasher
· Take the tea trolley round to each resident ensuring that they are asked what they would like to drink and offer them the biscuit tray. If the residents have visitors offer them refreshments.
· Collect the crockery and cutlery and wash them up using the dishwasher
· Help the cook serve lunch.
· Wash up the used crockery and cutlery, and cooking utensils etc. and wash the trays and wipe the trollies
· Empty the dishwasher and refill.
· Empty the bin and sweep and mop the floor
· Dish up and help serve suppers. Chef will have prepared before hand. May be required to make suppers ( sandwiches/warm up soup/supper meals)
· Leave the Kitchen in a clean and tidy state at the end of the shift.
· Report any faulty and defective equipment to a senior member of staff
· Ensure that the exit doors, store cupboards and freezers are closed and locked as appropriate with the close of the kitchen
Other Duties
* Undertake such in house and external training which is appropriate to your role and has been identified through a training needs appraisal.
* Maintain confidentiality of information at all times.
* Work within the policies, procedures and guidelines of the Homes' Quality Management System.
* Any other such duties as may be required to ensure the safe and effective management of infections or other H&S related activity to ensure the continuity of care for service users.
* To cover for any annual leave or sickness within the Kitchen Team Staff

Pay: £12.21-£18.03 per hour
