Overview

Air Hub is an EPSRC Micro-network plus aiming to build research capacity to understand what is in particulate matter (PM2.5) inside, what its health impacts are, and what we should do about it. Although we know that PM2. 5 is a significant contributor to ill health, we know little about the constituents (and therefore toxicology) of particulate matter in our buildings. The network will run for two years with a series of online and in-person workshops, sandpits and pilot studies. In this role you will be responsible for the pilot studies in the first year which will include air sampling in homes undergoing retrofit work. The aim of this work is to understand the constituents of particulate matter inside in order to interpret it’s impact on health. The pilots will be trialling measurement methods, and you will be responsible for developing and reporting on the methods. This will require liaising with the Project Lead and wider leadership team. You will work closer with Doncaster City Councils Health Determinants Hub where you will spend one day a week learning about their wider work and developing ideas for future research. Alongside your pilot work you will be expected to engage in the other network activities as required, in particular supporting workshops, contributing to their write up and engaging with the co-design group who meet monthly.

Main Duties And Responsibilities

* Plan, design and develop air quality pilot studies in conjunction with the leadership team and our project partners.
* Undertake indoor air sampling and analysis
* Work with Doncaster Health Determinants Hub to understand and report on the public health challenges facing the public sector
* Engage with the co-design sessions and liaise with the co-design team
* Liaise with the wider network and engage with workshops and other events. In-particular taking a leading role in the running of the ‘Early career online coffee’ events.
* Prepare reports, documents, papers as required
* Contribute to promoting the network through social media and other means.
* Carry out other duties, commensurate with the grade and remit of the post
