The Role Are you looking to build a rewarding career in a fast-paced, scientific environment? We’re seeking a dedicated Laboratory Technician to join our Laboratory team, supporting the delivery of high-quality analytical results. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented individual with a passion for science and a strong awareness of health and safety within the lab setting. Hours Per Week: 37.5 Days Per Week: Alternating weekly shifts: 06:00 -14:00 and 13:30 - 21:30, Monday to Friday. Contract: Full Time & Permanent Salary: £24,750 Hiring Manager: Sarah Campbell Closing Date: Friday 5th September 2025 The day to day Act as a key member of the laboratory team, working collaboratively to meet daily targets and turnaround times. Prepare and process samples using in-house techniques and standard laboratory equipment (e.g. balances) in line with ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 17025:2017 standards. Carry out routine quality control and ensure results are recorded accurately using LIMS. Maintain high standards of housekeeping and calibrate equipment as directed by the Departmental Manager. Manage daily workload effectively, ensuring all tasks are completed within required timeframes. Handle chemicals safely and maintain awareness of laboratory hazards. Report any issues impacting sample quality or turnaround time to the Commercial Laboratory Management. Assist senior chemists as needed and support the ongoing development of the department. The Essentials A strong understanding of health and safety practices in a laboratory environment. Basic laboratory skills including weighing, sample preparation, and use of standard equipment. Familiarity with working to ISO quality standards (ISO 9001:2015, ISO 17025:2017). Competence in performing calculations relevant to analytical procedures. Experience using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) is desirable. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload under pressure. A proactive approach to maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient working environment. Willingness to learn and develop knowledge of metals and minerals analysis.
