Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)– Specialist SEMH Provision – Bolton
We are recruiting a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) KS1&KS2 to support students within a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) provision in Bolton. This long-term role will run for the rest of the academic year, with potential for a permanent role. This is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional social and emotional needs.
Key Responsibilities
•Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
•Build positive, trusting relationships to help students engage with learning.
•Assist in developing and delivering personalised support plans and interventions.
•Promote emotional regulation, resilience, and positive behaviour strategies.
•Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and pastoral teams.
•Support students during lessons, transitions, and throughout the school day.
•Record progress and contribute to ongoing assessments and reviews.
Requirements
•Experience working with primary aged children who have SEMH needs or behavioural challenges.
•A calm, patient, and consistent approach to behaviour management.
•Strong communication and de-escalation skills.
•Ability to remain resilient and solution-focused in a dynamic environment.
•Good literacy and numeracy skills.
•Enhanced DBS on the Update service
