Overview
2x New Assistant positions: Retirement Housing with Meals Opportunities in Leith. We are currently looking for 2 enthusiastic and caring individuals to join Donaldson Court, which offers safe and secure homes designed especially for those aged 60 and over. The development is situated in the Leith area of Edinburgh, close to local amenities.
Role
You will be responsible for a range of duties to ensure that internal communal areas are clean, hygienic and meet the standards expected by our tenants and visitors to the development. You will also assist by preparing the dining room for mealtimes, heating prepared meals and delivering them to tenants.
On occasion, you will be expected to clean vacant flats and/or external pathways of the development and provide general and emergency assistance to tenants, as required. You will respond to property emergencies, taking appropriate action when the Manager is off duty and providing cover for the development office as required.
Hours of employment are arranged as follows:
Each post will work an average of 16 hours per week on a shift rota, working 2 days out of 7 and every 3rd weekend, on a set 3-week working pattern.
Week 1: Wednesday 10am – 7pm; Thursday 10am – 7pm.
Week 2: Friday 10am – 7pm; Saturday 10am – 7pm.
Week 3: Saturday 10am – 7pm; Sunday 10am – 7pm.

Role Requirements
* Experience of a similar type of role would be an advantage but is not an essential requirement as training will be provided.
* You should bring to the role a genuine interest in working with older people and an ability to respond calmly to requests for assistance.
* REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene Qualification or equivalent would be desirable.
