Job objectives and responsibilities
The Changeroom Operative is responsible for the daily operation, safety, and cleanliness of various changerooms across the Sellafield site. This role is essential in maintaining compliance with nuclear safety standards and supporting the workforce in safe changing practices when entering or exiting designated buildings.
Main duties
1. Maintain high standards of cleanliness in all areas of the changing rooms and outer areas, this also includes the cleaning of IMP's foot plates and safety in all changerooms.
2. Work closely with Health Physics Monitors to uphold nuclear procedures and radiological controls.
3. Ensure all personnel have access to the appropriate clean clothing and changing facilities.
4. Possess a strong working knowledge of local rules and radiological procedures specific to each changeroom.
5. Liaise daily with the laundry service to ensure the timely delivery of clean garments and removal of soiled items.
6. Monitor stock levels and ensure availability of required clothing and PPE.
7. Collect and manage LLW from trace active and active areas:
8. Conduct inspections of returned or used garments to identify and remove rogue items (e.g., P4 passes, lab coats, gloves).
9. Key Cutting locker access for Only grant access under approved circumstances.
10. Coordinate active side coverall and lab coat drops:
11. Damaged Shoes, clothing & PPE removal when needed.
12. Emergency & Environmental Responsibility
13. Strong understanding of Sellafield local rules and radiological safety standards.
14. Ability to work collaboratively with Health Physics and Laundry teams.
15. Attention to detail when managing waste, garments, and locker access.
16. Confidence using key-cutting tools and maintaining accurate records.
17. Adherence to PPE standards and contamination control procedures.
