Main duties of the job
Reception
Receivingpatients and booking appointments at the Reception Desk.
Monitoringthe waiting room and guiding patients to rooms.
Dealingwith queries from patients asking for repeat prescriptions.
Sortingprescriptions into alphabetical order ready for collection by patients.
Administration
Makingappointments by telephone, handling requests for home visits and takingmessages.
Dealingwith queries from patients asking for repeat or acute prescriptions.
Processingpatients change of address and have knowledge of the Practice area.
Retrieveand file medical records ensuring strict alphabetical order is adhered to.
Other Tasks
Whenlast to leave at the end of the day, ensure that the building is secured, alarmactivated and that all electrical equipment is switched off.
Use of Equipment
Receptionstaff should be able to use general office equipment such as photocopier, faxand franking machine.

Estuary Group Practice is a thriving training practice in the west of Swansea. We have a growing population of 20,500 patients to whom we provide healthcare services across our three sites in Gowerton, Penclawdd and Gorseinon. The practice is proud of our experienced cohesive team of 15 partners working with 1 salaried doctor, 2 practice nurses, a healthcare assistant, a practice pharmacist and a paramedic supported by over twenty non-clinical staff.
We provide a diverse range of enhanced services to our patients (such as minor surgery and contraceptive services). We have for many years been a training practice for GP registrars, and we also teach students.

Job Description
Hours of duty: Part time (27.5 per week,Monday to Friday). Two shift patterns available - 07:45 - 13:15 or 13:00 - 18:30
Accountable to: Practice Manager
JOB SUMMARYTo act as medical administrator dealing with receiving patients, making appointments,and dealing with requests for visits and taking messages. Willing to workacross all 3 sites.
EXPERIENCE ANDSKILLS Candidates should be educated to GCSE standard. Proof of qualifications will berequired. Candidates should have a goodtelephone and reception manner, be able to use a computer and have goodkeyboard skills. We are particularly keen to hear from staff currently working general practice or who have previous experience. Being aware of the rules of patientconfidentiality is essential for this post.

Staff are initially employed for a 6 month probationaryperiod, during which time induction and training would take place.

* GCSE grade A to C in 3 subjects.
