Dermatology Consultant (Medical)

Consultant Dermatologist with a specialist interest in Medical Dermatology.
University Hospital Bristol NHS Foundation Trust wishes to appoint a Consultant Dermatologist in the Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI). The role involves working alongside a highly motivated team of Dermatologists and delivering care to the population of Bristol and the surrounding area.
The post holder will be based at the Bristol Dermatology Centre in the BRI. The Department aims to recruit a consultant with a schedule that includes set days working from the dermatology centre to support the clinical workforce, resident doctors and large specialist nurse teams. Candidates wanting to work LTFT are also encouraged to apply.
Main duties of the job
The Bristol Dermatology Department is a large teaching hospital offering a full range of dermatology services for the local population as well as a regional service in paediatric dermatology, phototherapy, contact dermatitis, skin lymphoma and nail disease.

Qualifications & Training
* Fully registered with the GMC
* Certification of completion of specialist training (CCT) or equivalent or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) at the point of interview
* Within 6 months of gaining CCT at the date of interview (not applicable to CESR applications)
* Must be on the GMC’s Specialist Register for Dermatology to commence Consultant appointment
* Higher academic qualification e.g. MD, PhD or equivalent
Experience
* Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in dermatology
* Ability to take responsibility for delivering service without direct supervision
* Evidence of a special interest and expertise that complements those of other consultants in the department and is consistent with the Trust’s service strategy
Clinical Knowledge and Skills
* Up-to-date knowledge and experience of dermatology
* Knowledge of NHS priorities with reference to dermatology
* Broad range of IT skills
Clinical Governance and Audit
* Understanding of clinical governance and individual responsibilities it implies
* Knowledge of the principles of clinical audit and evidence of participation
* Positive approach to evidence-based practice
* Participation in continuous professional development (CPD) scheme and, where relevant, evidence of participation
Research
* Knowledge of research principles
* Evidence of involvement in research
* Evidence of peer-reviewed research papers
* Ability to increase the academic profile of the department
Teaching and Training
* Experience of teaching medical students
* Experience of supervising trainees
