An exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the lives of autistic children and young people and their families
Papillon House School is a nurturing and values driven independent special school dedicated to supporting autistic pupils to thrive. Our vision is to enable every pupil to experience success by developing their strengths, celebrating their achievements, and recognising their unique personalities. Rooted in our core values of family, teamwork, high expectations, and individualised support, we are committed to providing a tailored learning experience that prepares our pupils for fulfilling futures.
We are seeking an exceptional and motivated Teacher to join our friendly and supportive school team to help us to provide an inclusive, specialist education that makes a lasting difference in the lives of autistic children and young people. Working within a committed and proactive education team alongside therapy colleagues, you will support autistic pupils to learn, develop independence and achieve their full potential.
You will have the opportunity to plan, prepare and teach small classes of pupils following individualised curriculums, teaching according to educational need. You will be supported by a team of up to four assistants and will be responsible for leading this team on a day to day basis. Teaching will include planning, assessing, recording and reporting on the development, progress and attainment of pupils. Teaching is also undertaken out in the community and involves arranging visits to the community, supporting pupils participation during trips including horse riding, swimming and cycling to support learning. You will also write and update positive behaviour support plans and work collaboratively with families as well as completing annual review reports and attending pupil’s annual reviews.
There are opportunities to develop areas of the academic curriculum as well as contribute towards the overall development of the school. You will be an integral part of the whole school community and have the wonderful opportunity to work closely with our pupils to enable them to experience success and celebrate their achievements, however big or small.
You will be supported with a clear induction programme and will benefit from ongoing CPD including Attention Autism and ASDAN training as well as the teachers pension scheme.
