About The Role
gap personnel are recruiting for an Engineering Technician to join a leading defence and marine engineering organisation in Devonport, Plymouth. This is a hands‑on role supporting the maintenance and regeneration of electrical and mechanical systems onboard Royal Navy vessels undergoing major deep maintenance periods. Youll be part of a skilled engineering team ensuring equipment and systems are restored to full operational condition, contributing directly to the success of critical naval operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out maintenance and repair of electrical and mechanical systems onboard ships.
* Conduct inspections and report on equipment condition to ensure operational readiness.
* Diagnose and rectify system defects efficiently and accurately.
* Support general marine maintenance tasks as required.
* Maintain accurate records within the maintenance management system.
Essential Experience & Skills
* Qualified Electrical or Mechanical Technician with strong engineering standards.
* Physically capable of working onboard vessels and within dockyard environments.
* Confident IT skills, including experience updating maintenance systems and defect logs.
* Flexible and adaptable with a proactive, can‑do attitude.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Qualifications
* ONC, Level 3 NVQ, BTEC, or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline.
