Overview
We are seeking a Manager to lead the Economic Crime Unit (ECU), part of the National Environmental Crime Unit (NECU). The successful candidate will lead a specialist team dedicated to removing the financial benefit from criminals.
The ECU Manager will be the strategic lead for how we manage financial investigations, ensuring compliance with the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA). You will be proactive with a focus on continually improving and enhancing our work.
Responsibilities
* Lead two Team Leaders (Asset Denial Team and Money Laundering Investigation Team) and a Senior Financial Intelligence Officer; provide strong leadership, develop your team, and manage performance and delivery.
* Collaborate with internal teams (Investigatory Teams, Intelligence & Partnerships, Legal) and external partners (Police, National Crime Agency, HMRC) to influence senior-level priorities.
* Support the wider organisation in improving ways of working and increasing understanding of POCA; share lessons learned, input into technical documentation, and advise other enforcement officers nationwide.
* Work with the two teams of the ECU (Asset Denial and Money Laundering Investigations) comprising Financial Investigators, Financial Intelligence Officers and Crime Analysts; contribute to handling serious and complex criminality involving organised crime networks.
* Travel across the country for meetings and operational duties; participate in incident response and be available to support incidents or business continuity as required (may attract additional payment).
Team and Environment
The Economic Crime Unit is nationally dispersed and focuses on serious and complex criminality. It is made up of Financial Investigators, Financial Intelligence Officers, and Crime Analysts.
Experience and Skills / Qualifications
* Exceptional leadership skills, ideally with experience leading a dispersed team.
* Good understanding of financial investigations and the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA).
* Experience in the law enforcement sector and understanding of the National Intelligence Model.
* Effective communication including delivering feedback, managing performance, and building relationships with external stakeholders.
* Ability to work under pressure and prioritise a varied workload.
* Ability to identify improvements and lead changes to working practices; develop and enhance the capability of a team and individuals.
Desirable / Additional Information
* This is a hybrid role with flexible working from home and an office; travel across the country is required for meetings and duties.
* Training and workplace adjustments available; incident role and availability for incidents or business continuity support; this may attract additional payment.
