About Montu We are a fast-growing health technology startup with a single, clear purpose: to make high-quality pharmacy care genuinely accessible to every patient in the UK - not just those who can easily reach a high street chemist or navigate a complex healthcare system. Too many patients still experience pharmacy as transactional, frustrating, or hard to reach. Medication errors, poor communication, and lack of continuity of care affect real people every day. We exist to change that - and we are building the operational infrastructure, the technology, and the team to make it happen at scale.
The Role This is an end-to-end leadership role with full accountability for the pharmacy operation. You will set the clinical and operational standards that determine the patient experience, build and lead the team that delivers them, and own the commercial performance that makes it all sustainable. You will work closely with the Managing Director and leadership team on strategy - and you will be the person who turns that strategy into a pharmacy service patients genuinely trust and value.
What You Will Own
Transitioning the business from a scale up to a nationally significant pharmacy operations and logistics business
Full operational leadership of the pharmacy function, including dispensing, clinical services, patient communications, and fulfilment
Regulatory and compliance accountability - GPhC, CQC, contractual obligations, and patient safety frameworks
Patient outcomes and experience - setting the clinical standards, governance frameworks, and quality metrics that keep patients safe and satisfied
Design and continuous improvement of the patient journey - from first contact through to medication delivery and ongoing support
Commercial performance of the pharmacy operation - cost management, and contribution to growth
Building, leading, and developing a high-performing, patient-focused pharmacy team
Embedding a culture where every member of the team understands how their role connects to patient outcomes
Partnering with product and technology teams to build pharmacy tools and experiences that genuinely serve patients better
Work closely with the Superintendent Pharmacist and Head of Pharmacy Operations to ensure legal and regulatory compliance
Essential Requirements
Proven track record of full operational ownership at senior level - you have been the person accountable for outcomes, and you have delivered them
Demonstrated experience of scaling high-volume operations - you have grown throughput significantly, and you understand what needs to be built to make that sustainable. You need to demonstrate operational and logistics scaling experience of over 150+ staff and utilising technology and new ways of working to achieve scale
Exceptional change leadership - you have guided teams through significant transformation with clarity, empathy, and genuine buy-in
Creative and resourceful problem solver - you find smart paths through complex operational challenges and you do not need perfect conditions to start
24/7 operational experience - you have built the systems, the culture, and the resilience that a round-the-clock operation demands
Background in high-volume, regulated operations - pharmacy, healthcare, pharmaceutical supply chain, industrial logistics, or equivalent
A strong coaching and teaching mindset - you develop capability in your teams and leave every operation better equipped than when you arrived
Business owner mentality - you think in outcomes, take personal accountability seriously, and make decisions as if it is your name on the door
A visible, on-site leadership style - present, hands-on, and genuinely connected to the operation and the people who run it
Desirable Skills
Direct pharmacy or healthcare operations experience at scale
Experience designing or improving patient journeys, clinical pathways, or care models
Experience in digital, online, or technology-enabled pharmacy - particularly models focused on patient access and adherence
Superintendent Pharmacist experience or willingness to hold SP responsibilities
Exposure to patient feedback and quality improvement methodologies (e.g. patient safety incident frameworks, Net Promoter Score in a clinical context)
Experience working with product or technology teams to build patient-facing tools
