Trainee Drainage Engineer

Salary £24,000 – £27,000 basic salary plus on‑call, overtime and benefits (average OTE for a Drainage Engineer after training: £40‑50K).
Metro Rod is a leading provider of drain clearance and maintenance services, working with major clients such as Tesco, Marks & Spencer, Mitie, Clarion, Axa, Wetherspoons and many others across the FM, Social Housing, Property Management, Retail, Industrial and Leisure sectors.
What does it entail?
* Carrying out a range of services associated with the cleaning, clearance, repair, and maintenance of customers’ drains.
* Operation of high‑pressure water jetting equipment in line with rigorous safety standards.
* Carrying out surveys.
* Providing an exceptional standard of customer service and technical expertise.
* Accurately recording work/job details via bespoke internal/client systems and apps.
* Communicating effectively with high‑profile commercial and domestic clients and Metro Rod Support Centre colleagues to ensure excellent customer service is always provided.
* Participating in an on‑call rota to help service clients 24/7/365. This would be one week in four – variable according to the business needs.
What are we looking for?
* Previous experience within a hands‑on technical/construction role.
* A keen interest in learning the drainage trade.
* Motivation for wanting to progress and develop yourself.
* Positive, flexible, can‑do attitude.
* Willingness to work some unsociable hours.
* Physically fit and able to perform a manual role.
* Full UK driving licence and own transport.
