Job overview
We have the opportunity for an experience cancer nurse to join our Acute Oncology Service in a Developmental Nurse Practitioner position. The Developmental role gives the successful candidate the opportunity to gain the skills required to work as a Band 7 within the Acute Oncology Service. You will be required to completed developmental tasks throughout the 12 months including the completion of a service improvement project.
The successful candidate will work in partnership with the members of the multidisciplinary Acute Oncology team. They will have a key role in the Acute Oncology Service and use their expert knowledge to manage patients with acute oncological presentations, implement and evaluate seamless specialist care at the highest standard.
The role is multifaceted and the post holder with be required to support the 24/7 Acute Oncology Service telephone triage line, on-site day shifts including weekend working and remote night shifts covering the out-of-hours telephone triage line, as well as providing cross-cover for the St Thomas Acute Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist when required.
As part of the interview process, successful candidates will be given10 minutes to prepare a short presentation (5-10 minutes) based on apreviously unseen clinical scenario, which will be provided on the day.
No additional materials or devices are required, and you will be provided with paper and pen for preparation.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Clinical Practice:
Ensuring the safe and innovative delivery of care to patients requiring support from the Acute Oncology Service.
Be able to deliver excellent standards of clinical care and role model to junior staff members.
Monitor performance of the unit and undertake improvement projects to deliver the highest standards of care.
Leadership and Education:
Fostering an inclusive environment where staff feel valued and supported, enabling them to deliver high-quality care as part of a skilled and cohesive team.
Promoting and encouraging a culture of ongoing professional development and learning.
Resource Management:
Overseeing the effective management of pay and non-pay budgets, ensuring optimal allocation of resources.
Person specification
Qualifications/ Education Professional/ Statutory Registration
* Post registration qualification in cancer care or equivalent post qualification experience.
* Leadership course or equivalent
* To have or working towards master degree
* To have or working towards non medical physical assessment
Experience
* Extensive experience of working autonomously at an advanced level within the specialist area delivering effective patient focused care
* Proven evidence of management / leadership skills and autonomous practice
* Experience of audit, research & evidence-based care
* Experience of working within oncology or Acute Oncology setting
