Cost Accountant Permanent / Full Time / 37 hours per week / Permanent Salary: £40,000 - £45,000A well-established organisation in Wolverhampton is currently seeking a Cost Accountant to join its finance team on a permanent basis. This is a key analytical role, supporting senior stakeholders with accurate cost information to drive informed decision-making around efficiency, profitability and performance.
The Role
Reporting into a senior finance leader, the Cost Accountant will play a pivotal role in analysing and managing operational costs. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will provide insight into cost performance, support financial planning activities and contribute to continuous improvement across finance processes.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and analyse cost information to support business decision-makingMonitor and report on cost performance, identifying trends and variancesSupport budgeting and forecasting processes with accurate cost dataWork with stakeholders across the business to gather information and provide financial insightAssist with inventory analysis and valuation activitiesContribute to the preparation of management reports and financial informationSupport month-end and year-end reporting processes as requiredHelp ensure compliance with internal controls, policies and accounting standardsIdentify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within cost reporting
Skills & Experience Required
Experience in cost and management accounting, including budgeting and forecastingStrong Excel and MS Office skills; experience with ERP systems is advantageousAnalytical approach with strong attention to detailConfident communicator, able to work effectively with non-finance stakeholdersAbility to manage priorities and work collaboratively within a teamProactive mindset with an interest in improving systems and processes
