Systems Design Engineer

Hours: 37 hours per week (08:00–16:30 Monday–Thursday | 08:00–13:00 Friday)
Salary: £40,000 – £60,000 DOE
We are working with a well-established UK vehicle engineering manufacturer to recruit a Systems Design Engineer into their growing Engineering function in Warwick.
This is a technically hands-on systems role, sitting at the heart of vehicle platform development. You will take ownership of system-level design, requirements definition, and integration across electrical, mechanical and communication domains, ensuring that complex vehicle systems are robust, compliant and production-ready.
The Role
You will be responsible for defining, developing and validating complete vehicle systems, acting as the technical interface between design, software, test and manufacturing teams. This position offers genuine technical ownership and influence across current and next-generation platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Define and document system requirements, architectures and interfaces
Capture stakeholder and regulatory requirements and translate into system design
Lead cross-domain integration across electrical, mechanical and communication systems
Produce electrical interconnection schematics and supporting technical documentation
Support system commissioning, start-up activities and fault diagnosis
Contribute to DVP planning, execution and validation reporting
Work closely with software and test teams to ensure full system performance and compliance
Support continuous improvement of systems engineering processes
Candidate Profile
Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline
Proven experience in systems engineering within an automotive, vehicle or complex machinery environment
Strong understanding of system integration and lifecycle development
Experienced with requirements capture, V-model development and DVP&R generation
Comfortable producing and interpreting electrical schematics
Practical commissioning and fault-finding capability
Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills
Able to manage multiple technical priorities to tight deadlines
Knowledge of CANbus, ISO 26262 and functional safety standards is advantageous
Willingness to travel within the UK and occasionally overseas
