Deputy Ward Manager
Being a Deputy Ward Manager is more than helping to manage a team. It's supporting a leader, being an expert, embracing a positive culture, providing guidance, nurturing talent, and most importantly, looking after everyone within the ward. With experience from the NHS or private care, you will support the Ward Manager to lead the nursing team in providing high‑quality care and support to people with mental health conditions. You will empower recovery, deliver supervision to staff, co‑ordinate the on‑call service, manage the ward budgets and lead by example, acting as a role‑model to all members of the nursing team.
Other duties include:
* Providing clinical leadership and expertise
* Providing leadership and guidance to support a unified service and engaged workforce
* Ensuring high standards are in place, followed, and improved in accordance with the Clinical Governance framework
* Utilising and supervising all nursing staff effectively
* Being an expert resource on nursing care of service users within the specialism and holding a key role in the multidisciplinary team
* Maintaining a positive and collaborative environment so that ward members can reach their potential and provide high‑quality care, staff welfare and staff training
* Designated to take charge of the ward in the Ward Manager's absence
Qualifications
* A relevant nursing qualification
* NMC registration
* A positive, caring and compassionate attitude
* A commitment to high‑quality care and to values and evidence‑based practice
* Relevant experience in a similar environment
* Proven track record of leadership skills
