We are now looking for a Skilled Machinist at our Leading Engineering Facility in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire.
As a skilled Machinist, you will be responsible for operating a range of manual machining equipment, including lathes, mills, and grinders, to produce high-precision components. Your role will involve working from detailed engineering drawings and adhering to strict specifications, requiring a strong mechanical aptitude and a dedication to quality and safety. You will contribute to a collaborative environment focused on delivering top-quality machining solutions to the food, energy and water industrial sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain machining equipment such as milling machines and grinders to produce precise metal components. Ensuring minimal downtime and documentation is completed.
Select appropriate tools, fixtures and materials based on specific job requirements. Assisting in tooling setup and calibration for different machining tasks.
Read and interpret complex technical drawings and specifications to ensure accuracy and precision.
Perform welding and assembly tasks to complete fabrication projects.
Conduct routine inspections and quality checks on machined parts.
Identify machining errors or deviations from specifications and correct them accordingly.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
Skills and Experiences:
Proven experience as a Machinist or similar role in a metal fabrication environment.
Proficiency with milling, turning, welding, boring, and assembly processes and operations.
Strong mechanical knowledge and ability to read technical drawings.
Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and tooling equipment.
Basic maths skills for measurements and calculations.
Familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks or similar programs is preferred.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Driving Licence (required) with own transport and ability to travel to Wisbech.
What we offer
Up to £19.50 per hour. 40 hour working week Mon to Fri.
