The opportunity
We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Associate/Partner to join our Health & Safety team to deal with non-contentious aspects of our practice. The team works nationally out of four UK offices in Manchester, London, Birmingham and Exeter, so while we work flexibly both remotely and between the physical offices, and support clients and projects throughout the country, the health and safety lead partner is based in Manchester.
What you will be doing
1. Advising social housing and private-sector landlords on statutory compliance and contractual obligations across a range of risks including fire safety, asbestos, legionella, mould, electrical and gas safety;
2. Inputting into H&S policies and procedures as well as helping out with crisis management following an accident, incident or near miss;
3. Advising on insurance cover for legal liabilities and legal expenses;
4. Advising on contaminated land which poses human health risks and potential claims risks for landlords and freeholders;
5. Advising numerous landlords, developers, contractors and consultants within the Built Environment sector on all aspects of the Building Safety legislation; and
6. Providing support with health, safety and environmental due diligence on real estate, commercial and corporate transactions.
The role would also involve:
7. Building and maintaining effective client relationships;
8. Active participation in marketing initiatives, including client training sessions;
9. Evidencing behaviour that is supportive of the Firm's diverse and inclusive culture;
10. Ensuring files are managed in compliance with Lexcel procedures;
11. Participating in firm-wide and departmental training sessions; and
What you will need
The firm has a Career Development Framework which sets out the competencies we expect of those at the Senior Associate grade. In particular for this role we require:
12. Qualified solicitor with at least 6 years' PQE in non-contentious Health and Safety work
13. Proven ability to take on responsibility, manage and progress matters independently where appropriate;
14. Strong client focus and a commitment to service delivery;
15. Commercial awareness;
16. Strong technical skills and innovative approach to their application;
17. Good team player and ability to work flexibly;
18. Substantial client management experience;
19. Proven track record in origination/business development;
20. Solid academic record;
21. Methodical, disciplined and organised approach;
