Overview
Clinical/Counselling Psychologist (Band 8a) or Preceptorship (Band 7). Permanent post 0.6 (22.5 hours) with opportunities for flexible working. The role involves working across acute in-patient and community mental health services in the London borough of Bromley, with a partnership between the Older People CMHT at Bridgeways, Bromley, and Scadbury, the Older People acute ward at Green Parks House, Princess Royal University Hospital.
We are seeking to recruit a skilled, innovative and compassionate Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to work with older people, providing clinical leadership, specialist clinical services, and opportunities to develop the transitional pathway between hospital and community services.
Responsibilities
* Provide direct clinical work with service users and their carers/families involving assessment, formulation, and interventions for varied and complex presentations, including supporting people living with dementia and their carers.
* Develop, evaluate and deliver the therapeutic group programme on the ward, in collaboration with colleagues from the wider therapies team.
* Engage in varied approaches to consultation to MDT settings (e.g., team formulation, teaching sessions, joint working and supervision).
* Supervise a trainee Clinical Psychologist (on placement across both settings) and an Assistant Psychologist (on the ward).
* Be a highly valued member of the Psychology team with opportunities to contribute to MDT development and service improvement.
* Support the wider inpatient team to think psychologically and contribute to the organisation of care; participate in indirect work through team formulation, reflective practice and staff training.
* Provide specialist clinical supervision and work with multi-professional teams to improve service user experience at the hospital/community interface.
* Contribute to the development of the transitional pathway for older people and support service development across the Acute and Crisis Pathway.
Qualifications and requirements
* Clinical/Counselling Psychologist (Band 8a) or Preceptorship (Band 7) with eligibility to progress to Band 8a within 18-24 months, subject to meeting competencies.
* Direct clinical experience with older people in inpatient and community settings is desirable.
* Willingness to supervise trainees and support staff as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
