Role Overview
This post will provide excellent grounding for any Registered Nurse with a genuine interest in cancer and its treatments, and could lead to a rewarding future in cancer care nursing.
The post offers:
* Full training and support in obtaining the nationally recognised Systemic Anti‑Cancer Treatment (SACT) UKONs competency
* Rotation between the out‑patient Chemotherapy Unit and the award winning Mobile Chemotherapy Unit
* Regular education sessions and clinical supervision
* Being part of a forward‑thinking, dynamic, supportive and friendly team
With a base and training at Scarborough Oncology/Haematology Outpatients, there will be an opportunity to experience training in an area providing full elite care, to those affected by cancer and its treatments.
The role will include supporting the Mobile Chemotherapy Unit (MCU) Team. The MCU visits satellite areas, such as Selby, Malton, Scarborough and Bridlington. This patient‑centred initiative brings cancer treatments locally to the patient.
Responsibilities
* Maintain a high standard of patient‑focused care in accordance with York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust policies and procedures
* Maintain a safe and clean working environment
* Provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for patients, ensuring accurate written records are kept
* Communicate with patients and carers to ensure they have access to appropriate information
* Promote and maintain positive relationships between all staff involved in the care of the patient
* Act in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Conduct
* Undertake duties on different wards/departments as and when required by service demands
* Demonstrate personal responsibility for compliance with infection control policies and procedures

Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants must hold a valid Registered Nurse qualification and a current Nursing and Midwifery Council PIN. The baseline PIN validity will be checked prior to shortlisting.
