The Home for Little Wanderers' Cove School is seeking a Certified Special Ed Teacher for its Plymouth, MA campus. The SPED Teacher will work with a team of educators to integrate social/emotional learning and a community-building approach to student-centered education.
They will create and implement hands-on instruction, develop IEPs, collaborate with teachers and special educators to differentiate curriculum, and utilize therapeutic intervention activities (training provided). The classroom focuses on developing executive function, social/emotional skills, and academic support for students aged 12-16.
How You'll Be Making a Difference
* Collaborate on planning and implementing individualized educational programs, including curriculum and lesson plans, in line with agency guidelines and the direction of the Special Education Coordinator. Research and provide educational resources for students of varying academic levels.
* Implement behavioral management strategies within the classroom, including crisis intervention and use of restraints when necessary, following facility principles and procedures. Model social and emotional skills and growth.
* Participate as a member of multidisciplinary teams, providing updates on student progress and receiving guidance to meet behavioral and educational goals. Liaise with staff and serve as a student advocate.
* Attend meetings, conferences, and workshops; prepare reports such as IEPs, client notes, and report cards.
* Maintain a safe, organized classroom environment.
* Provide coverage during lunch, recess, hall monitoring, or field trips as needed.
* Participate in mentorship programs and serve on committees as appropriate.
* Communicate with families to involve them in the educational process and assist in family activities.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in special education or related field required; Master's preferred.
* Experience in education or with the target student population highly desirable.
* Massachusetts Educator Licensure in Moderate Disabilities required.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer; ability to learn new software.
