Role Overview
As a Coalition Journalist in the Representative and News Department, your task is to investigate, document, and report on injustices affecting young people—especially those erased or misrepresented by mainstream media. This is not a neutral role. It is a role for someone who aligns with the mission, who understands the stakes, and who is ready to speak truth when others stay silent.

Responsibilities
• Conduct investigations into institutions such as schools, police forces, universities, detention centres, and local authorities
• Report from the ground at protests, vigils, public hearings, and community actions
• Write accessible, compelling articles, reports, and narrative briefings for public and internal audiences
• Interview individuals and groups affected by systemic harm or youth-targeted injustice
• Collaborate with Representatives, Legal, and Emergency teams to ensure rapid and safe information sharing
• Follow organisational guidelines on confidentiality, trauma-informed journalism, and source protection
• Help shape the broader voice of the Coalition through social media, video content, or editorials (as needed)

Requirements
• Strong writing, speaking, or reporting ability (formal qualifications not required)
• Deep alignment with justice work, grassroots advocacy, or youth organising
• Willingness to operate in fast-moving or high-pressure situations (support provided)
• Awareness of media ethics, security, and the role of journalism in power struggles
• Experience with photography, video editing, or design is a plus but not necessary

• All journalists will receive onboarding and training in safety, legal considerations, and trauma-informed practices
• You will have support from the Legal Department and senior organisers during sensitive assignments
• Emotional resilience is respected—check-ins and support structures are in place
