Job Introduction

The role involves 12.5-hour shift work on a rotary pattern, including night shifts, every other weekend, with night and weekend enhancements that significantly increase the salary.
About the service
HMP Norwich is a local Category B prison housing male prisoners from court or police custody, comprising several wings. HCRG provides 24/7 healthcare services, including emergency, primary, social, palliative care, and a substance misuse service.
Main Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
1. Act as a role model for high standards of care, complying with NMC Codes of Conduct and HCRG policies.
2. Work as a team member providing skilled nursing care, assessing immediate and long-term needs.
3. Carry a radio for communication, respond to emergency situations, and ensure safety of patients and staff.
4. Manage medicines safely and legally, attending training and maintaining competencies.

The Ideal Candidate
You will be a registered nurse with an NMC registration, with experience in a hospital or custodial setting, and an interest in prison healthcare.
* Experience of team and multidisciplinary working.
* Post-registration clinical experience.
* Mentorship and clinical governance experience.
* Willingness to develop a specialist interest.
* Experience with appraisal and supervision.
