About the Role
As their business continues to grow in the UK Aerospace & Defence market, they are looking for an experienced Field Engineer with knowledge of Telecommunications and IT systems. Preferably with a military background, but not essential.
Responsibilities
* Working on secure communications systems for military customers.
* Working independently with a high degree of autonomy, travelling to customer sites within the UK (South West) and occasionally overseas.
* Installation, maintenance and defect rectification of the full range of Wireless Communications Systems.
* The right candidate must have strong analytical and technical skills with an emphasis on fault finding.
* The client will provide in depth product training via internal product training programmes as well as on-site with Senior Engineers.
* The Field Engineer role reports to the head of the UK Projects and Solutions group; there are opportunities to grow within the company by working towards becoming the Lead Engineer responsible for several projects, or other disciplines such as Project Management or Engineering Management.
* Because the role involves travel, and their customers are in the Defence Industry you must hold a Full UK driving license and be eligible for UK SC and DV Security Clearance.
Required Skills
* Sound understanding of fault-finding TCP/IP Server Based Systems/Networks.
* Ideally able to demonstrate a good working-level knowledge of RF electronics, ideally within a Military HF/VHF/UHF environment.
* Install, maintain and repair legacy/delivered communication systems.
* Ideally experienced in creating system test strategy development and validation, verification, and test plan documentation.
* Strong analytical and technical skills with an emphasis on fault finding.
* Computer literacy (Windows, MS Office, VISIO).
