Job summary
Applications are invited for the position of Clinical Fellow in Heart Failure and Cardiac Devices at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust. The post is fixed term for 12 months but an extension will be considered. The unit offers a supra-regional service for the management of patients with Chronic Heart Failure and Cardiac Devices.
Main duties of the job
The 4 hospitals comprising University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust implant circa 3000 cardiac device implantations procedures per annum (1200 at QEHB), including circa 300 cardiac resynchronisation therapy (CRT) device implantations (200 at QEH). QEH receives tertiary referrals from other centres for failed CRT cases that require adjunct strategies ( venoplasty, tunnelling, femoral systems) as well as subcutaneous ICDs, leadless pacemakers and conduction system pacing. All aspects of the service involve experimental and clinical research, which is regularly published in major peer-reviewed journals. The post holder will be required to follow the training programme in complex device implantation.

This post is suitable for an individual who is nearing completion or has completed their Cardiology training (peri-CCT) in Heart Failure and Cardiac Devices but would like to gain further, high-volume experience in this field prior to consultant appointment.
