Morson Talent are delighted to present an opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Construction Delivery Manager (Electrical) to join our client’s established team in Somerset. All work is associated with a major energy infrastructure Project which will help to drive the UK towards its net-zero targets.
Job Purpose / Overview
The Construction Delivery Manager supports activities in the field relating to the construction of a designated section of the works and its on-site facilitation. Specifically, LV installation, Power Earthing and supporting elements of non-permanent construction installation across the Project. It includes day to day on site supervision and direction of the works to safely and efficiently deliver the project.
The Construction Delivery Manager will be tasked with supporting the Construction Delivery Lead in delivery of electrical elements to BS 7671 regulations and The Electricity at Work act, with a focus on safety, quality and compliance.
The Construction Delivery Manager will support the delivery of an area within a specific section of the Works. This responsibility extends to all construction and related activities, reporting to the Senior Construction Delivery Manager and includes logistics planning and implementation in collaboration with the site wide logistics team, programming and planning, monitoring and close out of authorities’ obligations and conditions and client liaison.
Principal Accountabilities
Support the contract partners in their delivery of the works packages to enable efficient delivery of their sections of works.
Recommend temporary measures to mitigate against safety and/or quality concerns. Follow up by taking appropriate and proportionate action (e.g. issue communications, call meetings) to avoid the cessation of works. This includes but is not limited to review of documents, assurance audits, etc.
Monitor works on site record findings in a construction daily site log, ensuring information is reported up through the organisation to the Senior Construction Delivery Manager. Escalate any issues/concerns via detailed reports.
Proactively communicate/co-ordinate with site functions (H&S, quality, surveillance, commercial, project controls, logistics) and other Construction Delivery Managers to maintain good communication links, and ensure activity is well and timely reported. This will also include regular attendance at pre-start briefings and supporting the delivery of key messages to the contractor’s organisation.
Attend PLOD/PLOW meetings with the contractor, ensuring outputs are recorded and issued to the Senior Construction Delivery Manager.
Undertake and record safety and/or assurance inspections.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Essential
Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent electrical vocational training and experience.
SMSTS or IOSH qualification holder.
Experience and knowledge in delivering projects, including construction sequencing, recovery plans and resource allocation.
Good understanding of the post holder’s obligations under the CDM Regulations.
BS 7671 18th Edition certificate.
Able to write informative, concise and meaningful reports.
Motivate and energise contract partners by building a climate of trust and understanding and actively seeking alternative views and opinions.
Possess excellent organisation and communication skills.
Collaborate with other managers to effectively manage operations of the site
Ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
Desirable
Experience of operating in a high security environment is advantageous.
Experience within the Nuclear environment is advantageous but can be off-set by experience within power generation new built projects.
Experience with BS 7375, Code of practice for distribution of electricity on construction and building sites
