First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor on behalf of one of our clients.
Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provision of accurate and timely cost and value reporting at both project and business unit levels to inform Group reporting
2. Provision of accurate cash flow reporting
3. Cost management and project forecasting
4. Drafting and updating a monthly CVR, cost and commercial plans
5. Compile upstream applications for payment and cash management
6. Responsibility for subcontract procurement, negotiation and financial accounting
7. Preparation of project applications for payment to final account settlement
8. Liaison with clients, client representatives and other third parties on commercial issues, including agreement on matters relating to contractual change, claims and additional payment
9. Work with the wider project team to forecast predicted expenditure and cash recovery to ensure that both are in line with business unit expectation
10. Share best practices with others and take a proactive approach in advising site teams on cost management and efficiencies
11. Identification and realisation of commercial opportunities
12. Support all internal commercial processes by ensuring adherence to timeframes and compliance
13. Actively seek to improve processes and procedures
Skills and Qualifications:
14. Previous experience in the construction industry
15. Familiarity with IChemE/ NEC forms of contract and knowledge and understanding of Construction Law
16. Previous experience in commercial management and procurement of subcontractors, including chairing regular meetings, measurement and control cycle, certificates, and accruals calculations
17. Demonstrable experience of monthly forecasting and cost analysis.
18. Excellent communication, numeric and computer literacy skills, proficient in Microsoft Office
19. Excellent organisation and time management skills, with the ability to work effectively to tight deadlines
20. Member of RICS or other relevant professional body, or working towards CSCS card
21. HND/degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying
22. Demonstrable knowledge and experience in estimation
23. Experience working for a direct delivery contractor
24. An engaging communicator with problem-solving skills

Location: North/West London
Salary: £60,000 – £75,000 Per annum
