CTMUHB would like to invite applications for a Senior Clinical Fellow in Emergency Medicine, with a choice of specialty interest in either Anaesthetics/Paediatrics/Environmental Improvements/Digital/US/Research/Medical-Education/Global Health or Well-being. The post will be based in Prince Charles Hospital. We envisage the split for this post at 75% in Emergency Medicine and 25% in your choice of specialty interest.

You will be given dedicated time off the shop floor from EM to pursue your choice of specialty interest. See attachments below - these contain job descriptions of all the specialty interests. At the interview stage you will be asked about your choice of specialty interest.
The post: 75% Senior clinical fellow in Emergency Medicine
The post will offer the candidates opportunities for career development, through Life Support courses, Clinical Audit, Grand Round Presentations, Complaints Management, development and/or updating of Care Pathways, support and mentoring of medical students and Juniors, bedside ultrasound and a bespoke senior weekly consultant lead teaching programme. There are the opportunities to continue working in our team and develop your portfolio for CESR application.
Main duties of the job
The post: 75% Senior clinical fellow in Emergency Medicine
The post is designed for individuals who would like to gain experience in their chosen specialty interest while working in EM in WALES. The post is for 6 months until August 2024 and you will be expected to work a rota including nights and weekends. The responsibilities of the post include the following:
1. Contribute to the Emergency service at Prince Charles Hospital
2. Participate in the initial assessment, treatment, referral and disposition of patients attending the Emergency Department, with an emphasis on Paediatric emergency medicine.
3. Liaise with other members of the clinical team and other specialties
4. Work a shift pattern including nights and weekends.
5. To participate in QIP and Governance.
6. To attend senior teaching
7. Be an active part of teaching to the juniors
8. Run the Shop out of hours while supporting the juniors and Nursing staff.

Duties Of The Post
Clinical: Roles & responsibilities include co-operation in the management and treatment of all patients attending the Emergency Department, working autonomously but with supervision provided by the consultant staff.
Flexibility
The duties of this post are flexible and may be varied from time to time to fit, or example, the training needs of the post holder or the service needs of the Health Board.
Other Conditions.
The successful candidate must be registered with the GMC prior to taking up the post.
Membership of a Medical Defence / Protection society is encouraged but not mandatory.
The post is subject to a medical examination and documentation of Hepatitis B Status.
Occasional Emergencies
The doctor accepts that he will also perform duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances at the request of the appropriate consultant, in consultation where practicable with his colleagues both senior and junior. It has been agreed between the professions and the department that while juniors accept that they will perform such duties, the Secretary of State stresses that additional commitments arising under this sub-section are exceptional, and, in particular, that clinical staff should not be required to undertake work of this kind for prolonged periods or on a regular basis.
