Summary:
The Group People & Culture Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing the operations of the People & Culture department within our retail organisation across our 7 sites (circa 650 employees). This position is essential for ensuring effective employee relations, supporting the development of our team, and implementing our HR and H&S strategies with the P&C Director.
The successful candidate will directly manage a team of 4 and work closely with the P&C Director to enhance our strategy and ensure that we attract, recruit, and onboard exceptional talent, all while fostering a positive, engaging and safe workplace culture.
Responsibilities:
* Oversee the daily operations of the People & Culture department, ensuring effective employee relations are maintained and issues are addressed promptly.
* Support and coach the P&C team, facilitating their professional development and managing weekly and project meetings.
* Assist the P&C Director in developing and implementing the health and safety strategy.
* Step in for the P&C Director when required at Executive meetings.
* Ensure that key People & Culture measures are met and communicated effectively across the organisation.
* Lead high-level employee relations cases, particularly during appeal stages.
* Support senior site-level recruitment across the Group, ensuring we attract and onboard great talent.
* Manage the Employee Net Promoter Score (ENPS), ensuring it is communicated and acted upon across the Group.
* Create a fun and engaging working environment by implementing regular employee engagement activities.
* Take ownership of payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and timely monthly sign-off with support from the P&C team.
* Manage the annual Kindness Pot plan and support the development of the Charity of the Year initiative.
* Travel will be required on occasions to our sites, but the main office will be Tong Garden Centre.
Qualifications:
* Proven experience in a managerial role within a People & Culture or Human Resources function, preferably in the retail sector.
* Strong understanding of employee relations and health and safety regulations.
* Excellent coaching and mentoring skills, with a track record of developing teams.
* Demonstrated ability to lead strategic initiatives and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate employees.
* Strong analytical skills to assess and improve People & Culture metrics.
* Relevant qualifications in Human Resources or a related field are desirable.

* Salary circa £40,000 (open to discussion depending on experience)
