Overview
Redlands is looking to recruit a Support Worker to join their team. This is a full-time 36 hours/12 hour shifts role Days / Nights and weekends. Driver/UK Licence Essential. £12.60 per hour.
Description
Redlands is a residential service located just outside of Newport city centre. We support up to seven people who have a learning disability and mental health needs. This includes people with a personality disorder, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. Our team are committed to ensuring the people we care for have a happy life by promoting independence and supporting them to learn life skills.
It would be ideal if you have previous experience gained in a similar role. However whilst this is valuable, we are looking for individuals who display the right values and behaviours in order to make a difference to peoples lives. You should be keen to learn and show compassion to care for the people we support.
What youll be doing
You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our residents wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future.
Your positive attitude and passion for providing high quality care and support will be your key strengths, but youll also have a friendly, patient and positive approach to work.
As a Support Worker, you will assist qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of residents. You will provide support with day to day activities, whilst encouraging and promoting independent living. As part of our team, youll help people reach their potential, through both practical and emotional support, making a positive difference to their lives.
* Supporting with personal care tasks, such as washing, dressing, eating and personal care
* Performing light housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming, and changing bed clothes
* Assistance and support to attend medical appointments
* Observe, monitor, and record physical and emotional well-being, and quickly report any changes to senior staff
* Supporting the development of important family connections and liaising with specialists, including Speech & Language Therapists and Learning Disability teams
* Encouraging participation in social and recreational activities that promote involvement and personal growth

* Driver/UK Licence

* Competent in verbal and written English
* A healthcare qualification is desirable, but not essential
