Tube Assembly Technician

The Tube Assembly Technician plays a key role in the assembly and fabrication of large X‑ray tubes. The role primarily involves detailed component assembly and is conducted in a carefully controlled clean‑room environment. The technician also facilitates day‑to‑day operation of the clean‑room and associated laboratory by ensuring essential consumables remain stocked, reporting inventory movement, and maintaining best working practices. Flexibility is required to swap shifts to cover for holidays and sickness. During initial phases of training, it may not be possible to work the shift for 3 months.
Responsibilities
* Ensure that clean‑room protocols are always followed.
* Actively build and test a wide range of electro/mechanical sub‑assemblies and systems.
* Ensure assemblies are built to controlled work instructions and drawings.
* Responsible for the assembly and test activities, utilizing specialist tools or test equipment as specified within Standard Operating Procedures and work instructions.
* Compile and complete build records & process check sheets during assembly and testing processes; sign off work orders and return them to stores after completion.
* When material or assembly quality problems are identified, raise an NCR on SharePoint.
* Ensure all equipment that requires calibration is within the calibration period.
* Handle all components in accordance with clean‑room protocols; protect equipment, product, and colleagues.

* Demonstrate behaviour consistent with the company’s Code of Ethics and Conduct.
* Report to manager or senior management any quality problems or defects that require corrective action.
* Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business.
Qualifications
* Experience working in a clean‑room environment (desirable but not essential).
* Experience in a manufacturing environment involving vacuum technology (desirable but not essential).
* Diligent with good attention to detail and a drive to complete tasks right the first time.
* Competence in mechanical handling and safe methods of working.
* Experience working for a high‑tech / low‑volume manufacturing facility (desirable but not essential).
* Shift schedule: Monday to Friday alternating Early (Monday‑Thursday 06:00‑14:00, Friday 06:00‑13:30) and Late (Monday‑Thursday 14:00‑22:00, Friday 13:30‑21:00). 20% shift premium.
