The Role We are looking for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer with strong expertise in Fortinet / FortiGate firewalls and VMware vCenter to join a dynamic IT infrastructure team. You will play a key role in maintaining, securing, and optimising the organisation s network and virtual infrastructure environment, ensuring high availability, performance, and resilience across business-critical systems. This role offers a mix of BAU support and project-based work, including infrastructure upgrades, security enhancements, and virtualisation improvements. Manage firewall policies, VPNs (IPSec/SSL), NAT, VLANs, and routing protocols Monitor and optimise virtual infrastructure performance and capacity Support network infrastructure including switching, routing, WAN/LAN, and SD-WAN Implement security best practices across network and virtual environments Provide 2nd/3rd line support for infrastructure and network incidents Support backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability configurations Maintain infrastructure documentation, diagrams, and configuration standards Contribute to infrastructure transformation and cloud integration initiatives Proven experience in an Infrastructure or Network Engineer role Strong understanding of network security principles and firewall management Experience with Windows Server and Active Directory Knowledge of virtual networking within VMware environments Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills Experience with hybrid cloud environments (Azure, AWS) Automation or scripting experience (PowerShell, Python) Experience with monitoring or SIEM tools
