Sheffield Hallam University - Heating Services Technician
Sheffield Hallam University has a rare and exciting opportunity to join our team as a Heating Services Technician.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual who enjoys problem solving, delivering excellent customer service, and working collaboratively as part of a wider trades team.
As a Heating Services Technician, you will provide specialist advice and practical support for Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), ensuring the delivery of reactive maintenance, remedial works, and small-scale projects across the University's 70+ buildings.
This role requires excellent investigation, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Salary and Benefits
The salary range is £31,637 to £38,249 per annum, depending on experience. The university operates a 24/7 on-call service (rota'd 1 in 4 weeks) at a rate of £204.01 per week standby, plus additional payments for callouts. Weekend overtime is optional and available to meet business demands. (More information in the 'Benefits' section below)
Salary increments are provided every April until the top of the grade is reached (6).
You will be contractually enrolled into the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), one of the largest and most generous defined benefit pension schemes in the UK.
If you have been a member of the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) prior to joining, you may opt out of the LGPS and remain in USS. Please contact the Pensions team to discuss options.
