Job Summary
To support the Sanctuary Manager and other Sanctuary Coordinators staffing the Crisis Alternative locations across West Essex, coordinating the shifts and supporting a team of Sanctuary Support Workers. To provide brief interventions to individuals experiencing mental health crises.

Key Responsibilities
* Support a small number of people requiring practical and emotional support in a safe environment as an alternative to hospital admission.
* Welcome people referred to the service and address immediate presenting issues.
* Support service users to develop emotional management, personal and life skills to enable growth in self-confidence and greater independence.
* Develop links and good relationships with external agencies including accommodation providers, health services, police, housing, debt advice, drug and alcohol services, etc.
* Ensure the safety of service users and work effectively with other team members and co-workers on shift.
* Carry out supervisory responsibilities for the on-duty Sanctuary Support Workers.
* Act with care, kindness and compassion at all times; be a positive role model for the team; act as an ambassador for Mind in West Essex in all agency contact.
* Provide and collate data and reports for contract monitoring and impact measurement.
* Work in accordance with Mind in West Essex policies and ensure an equitable, inclusive, and compliant approach; observe health and safety policies and conduct risk assessments as required.
* Develop professional skills and undertake CPD; ensure sensitive information is protected under Data Protection Act and GDPR guidelines.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
* Minimum of 1 year working in mental health services, in a supervisory capacity.
* A relevant management or team leading qualification or willingness to work towards this on successful probation.
* Evidence of continual professional development.
Desirable
* A relevant counselling, social work, occupational therapy, mental health nursing, or social care qualification or equivalent experience (Third year+ students welcome).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Understanding of developing and delivering services within a health and social care setting.
* Understanding of trauma-informed care and a person-centred approach.
* Understanding of the relationship between mental health and social issues and their impact on wellbeing.
* Understanding of relevant legislation and policies (Data Protection Act, Safeguarding, Equality).
* Risk assessment and risk management in mental health settings; safeguarding, confidentiality, and equality frameworks.
* Ability to handle stressful situations calmly, prioritise and manage workload.
* Good IT skills (Word, Google Workspace, Excel) and ability to input/extract information and produce reports.
* Willingness and ability to travel across West Essex during unsocial hours and work a shift rota covering 7 days per week.
Other Information
Contract: Permanent; Working pattern: Part-time, Flexible working; Salary: £14.55 per hour plus time and a half on public holidays; Location: Wellbeing Centre, 10-11 Corner House, Bush Fair, Harlow, Essex CM18 6NZ.
