We are lookingforaHead of Safety to join the National Theatre's Estates team.
The Head of Safety is responsible for ensuring that the National Theatre operates in a safe way by providing high quality, competent advice and support on matters of health, safety and risk. They will deliver this working closely with, and supporting, all departments at the NT.
Key requirements of the role include:
1. To be the Competent Person for health and safety and fire for the National Theatre.
2. To engage with the Senior Management Team to ensure risks are identified and measures are in place to mitigate those risks.
3. To take the leading role in the development and implementation of the National Theatres health, safety and fire risk management, strategies, polices and associated systems.
4. To advise the management of the National Theatre on any measures to assist them in fulfilling their responsibility for health, safety and fire risk management.
5. The provision of operational safety support to all departments through development and implementation of safety improvement initiatives and safety action plans.
6. To create a strategic, proactive and comprehensive approach to the management of risk and compliance in terms of the legislative framework and best practice.
7. To promote and embed an effective and positive health and safety culture.
8. Line management of the Safety team three Safety Advisors.
The successful candidates will have the following:
9. Have attained Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH) or IIRSM (FIIRSM)
10. Management experience with the ability to motivate, coach and develop a team
11. Experience of working with senior management in a medium to large organisation, ideally in a destination venue
12. Extensive experience of advising on Health and Safety issues in an environment of diverse working conditions and staff
13. Knowledge of the Technical Standards for Places of Entertainment
